1,400 plus pulsated to the upper body expressions of dance and razor tight pivots of 'New Work', choreographed by Edouard Lock. The strobing dance spots merge into the parenting guilt towards the females and their jutting jerks of emotion as they bolt towards the male dancers. Impact of their love is a freeze frame of energy contained in full body contact and immersion. Both female and male dancers were equal in physical strength and stamina - partnering was electric and gender equal. For me this gender equality in dance made this a really New Work.
Live music on stage, the aging image of the dancers on a second screen and lighting real made this a "New Work" performed en pointe.
My boyfriend and I joined other dancer friends backstage after. I believe music and dance belong on stage at a New Music Festival. We was amazed at the rebound of the dancers after the performance.
THX to all at the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's 21st New Music Festival 2012 for finally getting La La La Human Steps onstage at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall. Edouard Lock's interest in our memories of this 'New Work' are still alive 18 hours after and will be for years to come.
Here is some stuff read from Vancouver. Speed of Light Lightning Pace
